So work continues to be of varying quality. Notable today was the project one of my supervisors gave me this morning.

SAM'S PROJECT IN ONE ACT

(Admittedly very nice)Supervisor: Sam, I need you to reorganize all the drawers in this cabinet, because none of it's very convenient.

Me: Sure, it'll be great to have something to --

Supervisor: Oh, but don't actually move any files, because everything's very conveniently placed right now.

Me: ...I'm sorry?

Supervisor: At any rate, none of your careful organization plan will matter, because nothing in the drawers are where they're supposed to be.

Me: /ragequits

On the other hand, no one cares if I use office time to order a milkshake for take-out from a diner nearby. I count this as a win.

My mother ordered my new laptop today! I'm getting an Acer Aspire TimelineX because holy shit, the battery lasts for eight hours. (Also, it's very pretty.)

I go through phases where I play shit loads of point-and-click room escape games, so every now and then I return to the Submachine series, a thoroughly creepy collection of games set in mysterious locations which all appear to be something called Submachines. A review called it the Lost of online games, and I tend to agree. They're really worht playing, even if you end up using the handy walkthroughs for most of them. (If you'd rather tone down the creepy, listen to this mash-up while playing, because it makes everything hilarious.)

ugh, supervisors.

Yay for milkshakes! And new laptops! (I think I am getting a Mac.)

...I do not like creepy things, Sam.

I know, right? It was such a clusterfuck.

Yeah, I saw. It was actually someone suggesting an Acer in the comments of your post that made me look mine up.

But it's the awesome kind of creepy. And creepy is perhaps too strong a word. It's unsettling. It's not Marble Hornets, or anything.

How are they so dumb?

Are you totally opposed to the idea of a Mac? If I end up sticking with a PC, I'll look at Dell and Acer, I think.

I do not do well with unesttling. (Walking home from soccer one night, we had to go through this wooded area along the river, and we somehow got started talking about creepy movies, and I was terrified the rest of the way home. Even though there were people with me. I am a wimp.)

I'm not...totally opposed, per se, but there are a lot of things about it I really don't like. (Also, I just got The Orange Box for PC, so there's basically no chance I'm getting a Mac now.)

Well, I can understand that, because I'm a sucker for creepy stuff, but I don't react well. (Our hall light upstairs is burnt out, so every time I'm turning lights off before I go to bed, I have to sprint from the computer room to my room. I am a wimp.)

Like? (I have no idea what that is.)

Ahaha, no, I am so much worse, trust me. Seriously, world's biggest wimp.

From what I've seen of the ones being used at our school, it's hard to customize, and I'm uncomfortable with the potential access Apple has to your hard drive. Also, it's generally not a very good gaming platform, and games often arrive for it years later. (The Orange Box is a collection of Valve games: Half-Life 2, HL2: Episode One, HL2: Episode 2, Portal and Team Fortress 2. It all comes together on two discs for thirthy bucks.

Customize in what way, though? (Sorry, my computer knowledge is lacking.) And okay, so...seeing as how I don't play any games outside of Civilization and Tetris online, that's not really a problem.

Well, programming, and what you can download that will work with it. It's just an entirely different platform, and even though the number of Mac users is certainly growing, almost every PC user is going to be using the same platform. The differences just make connecting between the two more difficult than sharing between two computers would be normally. Apple's been trying to make it easier, but that doesn't guarantee it's easy. TL;DR, I do think a Mac would be good for you, and it's good for a lot of people. Personally, I just don't find that a Mac does everything I need.

Gotcha, but then again, I guess it's possible that you have more specific requirements when it comes to a computer than I do. I mean, I basically need Word, the internet, and a way to play music.

For instance, the opening of Beauty and the Beast? I STILL CANNOT WATCH IT. JUST THINKING ABOUT IT SPOOKS ME.

I...actually don't remember what happens in the opening of Beauty and the Beast. >> I'M SURE IT'S HIGHLY ALARMING, THOUGH.

Here! Also the scene where her father goes off into the woods and takes the "shortcut." And the scene in the West Wing.
